My work blends traditional architectural proportions with a joy in the details of odd science fiction references and old machinery. I want to create an intriguing and enaging combination of the familiar and the unfamiliar.
My Story
A part of me comes from a world of washing machine boxes, saucepan lids and ballpoint pens.
One of my most treasured childhood memories is of my Grandfather bringing home large packing boxes from washing machines and fridges. These would be transformed under the careful instruction of my 5-year-old self, into all kinds of exciting vehicles and flying machines. The powerful memory of that moment with the blank box, when anything was possible has stayed with me.
So, with my grandfather and a knife, the precision perforation of the packing boxes would begin; cutting holes and flaps, making doors, windows and access hatches. Eventually, I would be told no more or the box would collapse.
The new pilot (that's me) would then hold the saucepan lid in just the right spot as the final hole was formed.
With a trusty ballpoint pen, hours would be spent adding instruments, buttons and dials to all surfaces inside and out. We were ready for adventure…. My Grandfather allowed me to be the hero of my own adventures.

The joy of inventing stories around things made up is the key to the mission. I want others to feel that sense of anticipation. I hope to create experiences that are joyful, meaningful and resonate for years.

Growing up in Scotland surrounded by spectacular landscapes, textures and history, I trained as an architect at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture in Aberdeen, Scotland.
After living and working in Miami for many years and thanks to the creation of Moonlighter Makerspace these ideas have slowly formed and my laser cut art has emerged.
